Tutorial
The following graphic identifies main components of the Viewer:
Map Tools
Zoom in 
- (1) Select the Zoom-In tool.
- (2) Click on the map image OR drag the mouse to draw a rectangle around the desired area.
Zoom out 
- (1) Select the Zoom-Out tool.
- (2) Click on the map image.
Zoom out to see all of Arizona 
- (1) Click on the Arizona state flag tool.
Pan 
- (1) Select the Pan tool.
- (2) Click on the map image, then while holding down the mouse, drag the map image in the desired direction. The map will be redrawn with the new area displayed.
Identify
- (1) Select the Identify tool.
- (2) Click on a Fissure. The following information is displayed in a table at the bottom of the web page: Rec Fissure Type and Date Mapped. If multiple fissures are selected information for all are displayed. To see information for a particular fissure – click on the number in the Rec column. The corresponding fissure will turn red on the map.
Select by Rectangle 
- (1) Select the Select by Rectangle tool.
- (2) Holding down the mouse, drag your cursor around the area of interest. Information for all fissures will be shown in the box below the map.
Clear Selection 
- (1) Select the Clear Selection tool.
- (2) Holding down the mouse, drag your cursor around the area of interest. Information for all fissures will be shown in the box below the map.
Print the map 
- (1) Navigate to the desired view.
- (2) Select the Print tool. A Print Map workspace will be displayed at the bottom of the web page.
- (3) Type a title for the map in the Title to Display on Map box.
- (4) Hold down the CTRL key and click the Create Print Page button. A copy of the map will open in a new window.
- (5) To print the map, simply use your browser’s print command (File > Print, click on printer icon, or right click, choose Print).
Easy Search
The Easy Search Button offers a quick way to zoom to a specific City, Town, County, Township/Section, and Fissure Study Area.
- (1) Select Easy Search button
- (2) Choose from dropdown menus under Cities, Towns, Counties, Township or Study Area boxes.
- (3) Select “Zoom to” button
- (4) Wait for map to zoom to area of interest.
Layer/Legend 
- (1) Select the Layer/Legend button
- (2) This will toggle the right hand margin between showing a list of layers and the legend for the layers.
Fissures Information 
- (1) Select the Fissures Information button.
- (2) This will bring up a html document with detailed information regarding fissures – please read carefully.
Layers Information 
- (1) Select the Layers Information button.
- (2) This will bring up a html document with detailed information, or metadata, for the background layers seen on the map that are included for spatial reference: Reservation boundaries, towns, cities, county boundaries, highways, interstates, streets, Township and Range.
